Muhammad Shafiullah is a journalist, writer, and researcher, currently working at the Daily Ajker Patrika, one of the prominent national dailies in Bangladesh, where he has been covering the science and public health beat as a Senior Reporter since October 2024.

Before joining Daily Ajker Patrika, Muhammad Shafiullah served as a Staff Reporter at Daily Bonik Barta from October 2020, where he led a dedicated health page and wrote op-eds on various health issues. He reported for Ekushey Television beginning in May 2019, covering health, environment, crime, and education nationally. Shafiullah began his journalism career in 2013 at Daily Ittefaq as the Comilla University correspondent and has since contributed to prominent media outlets like NTV and New Age, consistently producing features and op-eds across various topics.

In addition to his primary roles, Shafiullah has contributed journalistic content like features and op-eds to several other media houses, including Prothom Alo, Janakantha, Jugantor, and Sokaler Khabor. He was a founding member of the Comilla University Journalist Association (CoUJA) and held several leadership positions, including Finance Secretary (2014-2015), General Secretary (2016), and President (2017).

As an author, Muhammad Shafiullah acts as a dedicated chronicler of society, realism, and contemporary history, deeply intertwining his sharp journalistic instincts with his literary pursuits. His compelling non-fiction work, July Gono Obbutthan: Morodeho Gononar Koyekti Din (Oitijjhya, 2026), stands as an invaluable and gripping documentary piece on the historic 2024 July Uprising in Bangladesh. Drawing directly from his frontline experiences as a journalist, Shafiullah provides a profound, first-hand account of the crisis. The book meticulously details the overwhelming medical emergencies, critical hospital records, and the grueling, high-stakes process of accurately counting casualties amidst the peak of the mass uprising. Prior to this historical documentation, he demonstrated his creative prowess with Asmat Alir Anoson (Sarnalipi Prokashan, 2017), a remarkable literary debut containing 14 original short stories. Through this collection, he delves into the harsh undercurrents of social inequality, the intricate dynamics of human relationships, systemic poverty, and the complex psychology of crime. Driven by a deep sense of social responsibility and sharp narrative depth, Shafiullah’s books have earned widespread recognition and critical acclaim for their societal relevance and emotional resonance.

Shafiullah has also been involved in various anthropological research projects both during and after earning his Master of Social Science (MSS) and Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) degrees in Anthropology from Comilla University. He also completed a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the National University of Bangladesh.

Moreover, he actively participated in the Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) and was a founding member of the Comilla University Debating Society (CoUDS). In his professional career, he is a member of Bangladesh Health Reporters Forum (BHRF) and the Alliance for Health Reforms Bangladesh (AHRB).

Shafiullah hails from the Pirojpur district and completed his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) at Govt Suhrawardy College, Pirojpur, and his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) at Pirojpur Town High School. He was born on December 16, 1993.
