Throughout his journalism career, Muhammad Shafiullah has conducted hundreds of interviews with prominent national and international figures, including ministers, senior government officials, diplomats, representatives of United Nations agencies and other international organizations, political and business leaders, physicians, public health experts, pharmaceutical executives, researchers, professors, and experts in health, education, medicine, environment, and related fields, covering diverse public-interest issues and perspectives.

 
 

Professor Dr. Mohammad Safiuddin has been involved in cardiac treatment, teaching, and research in Bangladesh for more than three decades. He is the Convener of the Bangladesh Cardiac Society and Head of the Cardiovascular and Stroke Center at the Super Specialized Hospital of Bangladesh Medical University. He spoke with Ajker Patrika about the burden of cardiovascular disease in Bangladesh, major risk factors, current capacity for diagnosis and treatment, and the measures needed at individual and national levels to prevent heart disease. With a recent measles outbreak in Bangladesh, children remain particularly vulnerable to severe complications, especially those who are malnourished, unvaccinated, or physically weak. In this special interview, Rana Flowers, UNICEF Representative to Bangladesh, shares her insights. She has been serving in this role since 5 August 2024 and brings over 35 years of experience in child development, international development, and policy advocacy. She has previously served as UNICEF Representative in Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Mongolia, and Belize. She spoke with Ajker Patrika about various child and public health issues in Bangladesh, including UNICEF’s priorities, maternal and child health, malnutrition, immunization, climate change, and child protection. Prof. Dr. Samanta Lal Sen, Bangladesh’s former Minister of Health and Family Welfare, is a pioneer of burn and plastic surgery in Bangladesh, with nearly five decades of experience in clinical care, teaching, research, and health policy. In this interview with Bonik Barta, he discussed cancer treatment, healthcare challenges, and broader health-sector planning in Bangladesh.
